Rolf's Supports Valley Nurse

Rolf’s has a deep, heartfelt commitment to helping the doctors and nurses on the frontline of illness and cancer. Inspired by nurse and cancer survivor Helene Neville’s commitment to delivering the message of Intelligent Beauty, Rolf’s Salon turned their locations into a private sanctuary for nurses. To coincide with National Nurses’ Week, on Monday, May 10th from 10 am until 7 pm, Rolf’s offered complimentary haircut and blow-dry services as well as deeply discounted color services to nurses. All proceeds from this one-day event went to support Helene Neville’s cross country run to carry the message of health, wellness and beauty for all nurses.

For a minimum donation of $30, each nurse received a t-shirt, book and complimentary haircut and blow-dry service. Many participants took advantage of adding a color service for an additional $30 donation.

Helene Neville was on hand to sign copies of her book, Nurses in Shape, which was written for specifically for nurses. Rolf's also held a raffle for the event with support from the International Aerola Restoration Academy (IARA) where some lucky winners walked away with beauty products, makeovers and a scholarship to the IARA. In total, the event raised close to $6,000. 100% off the proceeds raised during this event went to help fund Neville’s transcontinental journey.

Rolf’s Commitment

We believe as a leading beauty and fashion company that it is our responsibility to support those who so thoroughly embody our core message of Intelligent Beauty. Rolf’s has made an extraordinary commitment to support Helene Neville and is proud to mobilize its resources for her inspiring journey. We encourage all of our staff and clients to join us in energetically supporting Helene Neville by making a contribution on her site at www.oneontherun.com.

Helene Neville, RN

The self-proclaimed “Richard Simmons of nurses,” Helene has been a fitness coach and trainer for the past 27 years. Helene’s own health battles further empowered her to promote health, fitness, and beauty specifically to nurses. After surviving Hodgkin’s disease and three brain surgeries, she is ready to set foot on a 2,520-mile run as she delivers the essential message of active living to nurses across the country. Helene shared with us that although the prognosis of her health remains questionable, she is determined to leave behind a legacy for grandchildren that she may not be able to meet.

“I believe that inherently everyone wants to do something amazing in life, unfortunately, many do not know how to generate this feeling of extreme amazement.” said Helene. Learn more about Helene Neville at www.oneontherun.com.

One on the Run

Helene’s next feeling of euphoria will certainly come when she embarks on a 100-day cross-country run from Ocean Beach, California to Jacksonville Beach, Florida, entitled One on the Run, begins May 1, 2010, and will be completed by the time she turns 50 years old on August 17, 2010.

“My run is not to realize my dreams, but to help others realize theirs,” says Helene.

A few hundred miles shorter, the southern route offers many challenges including rugged terrain and extreme temperatures. Only two other runners, both male, have been able to complete this route. Helene will be the first female to complete the extreme southern Gulf Coast route. She will also be the first runner to complete the southern route in the humid summer months.

Any additional money raised from this run will be donated to the Saint Francis deSales Elementary School, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on behalf of the Maryellen Rouse Neifert Memorial Fund. The memorial was created in memory of my mother, who passed away from cancer. This school, whose students come from disadvantaged backgrounds all around the country and world, has produced several Gates scholars.
