SuperBowl Greenroom converted into exotic, high-tech celebrity sanctuary

The SuperBowl Celebrity Greenroom—a place normally associated with alcohol, bright mirrors, and butterfly stomachs—went high-tech-soft-touch exotic this year when they invited Rolf’s Salon and Spa of Scottsdale to convert the normally wild launch-pad into a deep-dream, paradise-lost sanctuary. After setting up a luxury hair and makeup salon staffed with 10 of their top artists, Rolf brought in a few components of what he call’s his top secret ‘ThirdSpace’ mindspa project.

Even though the ground itself was literally vibrating from the bass percussions of the two rock stages on either side of the tent, a stream of cold and exhausted entertainers tried out ThirdSpace’s HighPerformance DeepRelaxation System. Most said they entered another dimension.

“20 minutes on this zero gravity bed system is equivalent a 2-hour power nap,” Rolf’s scientific director, Matthew Kelley Ph.D. stated. “Even in this chaos —with our noise-cancelling headphones, the bed’s rotation, its brainwave entrainment, the enhanced guided-imagery, and our protocol—almost everyone tonight entered into what physiologists call the relaxation response, or alpha/theta parasympathetic.

Nothing I’m aware of will do it faster, or put you deeper. Your heart opens. Your mind brightens. Your body loosens up. It's the perfect preparation zone before any performance whether you’re a musician, football player, businessman, or over-stressed party animal.”

Although this ThirdSpace prototype has a more serious role in performance-intense application such as the US military—members of the participating Arizona National Guard were fascinated with the system—comments from the crowd say it’s both fun and even spiritual. Wyclef Jean, Paul Oakenfold, Boenobo’s crew, John Salley from the Best Damn Sport Show, and the top players of the World’s Championship Poker Team kept going back for seconds and to watch others.

While Dr. Kelley emphasized the system’s neurological brain-brightening and physiological benefits, celebrities and their crews who tired the system used phases like “unbelievable dreams,” “floated above my body,” “forgot where I was,” “fantastic trip,” and “fully-recharged.”

While Rolf’s ThirdSpace MindSpa isn’t yet open to the public, the world’s most effective deep relaxation and empowerment technologies are under development.
